By calling this a Smart Clock, Lenovo is insinuating that all other timekeepers are stupid. That doesn’t seem entirely fair on something that can keep track of every passing second, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without losing track. Could you do that? Where Lenovo’s Smart Clock does stand out, however, is with its extra-curricular activities. Behind its 4in touchscreen it has Google Assistant on board, so as soon as its 6W speaker has gently woken you with music it can brief you on the day ahead, reading out your schedule and the weather forecast at your command. And if your home is suitably smart, it can be used to switch on your lights and control your heating… though it doesn’t support video, so you won’t be able to see who’s at the door without getting out of bed. And unlike Amazon’s Echo Spot it doesn’t have a built-in camera – so while you can’t make video calls on it, at least there’s no risk of hackers blackmailing you with videos of you in your Pac-Man pants.
