DORSET’S THE WOUNDED KINGS ARE BACK WITH THEIR FOURTH ALBUM AND MAINMAN STEVE MILLS TELLS TERRORIZER ALL ABOUT IT

Steve Mills isn’t the kind of lad who likes to complain. After all, what started off as a “funny experiment” in his basement, now has five albums and more than a few gigs under their belt, including two appearances at the legendary Roadburn. On top of that, they’ve survived half a dozen line-up hiccups (including a former drummer moving to Canada and a Spinal Tap-like exchange of singers, as last year their original frontman George Birch replaced Sharie Neyland whom came on board four years prior – to replace Birch) and a few months of doubts as the latest label they had signed to, Candlelight, was being sold to the Finnish giant Spinefarm, thus delaying their sophomore album release for over six months. But if there’s one thing Steve hates the most – besides wasting endless minutes fixing his computer’s microphone to conduct this interview until his son Kaius comes to rescue – it’s not being able to do what he loves best: playing live. And despite ‘Visions In Bones’ about to be unleashed, he’s still sweating bullets lining up dates for their European tour next fall.

About Terrorizer Magazine

Devin Townsend: it’s a name synonymous with heavy and extreme metal, and also a name associated with the occasional foray into acoustic and country albums, not to mention albums featuring coffee loving puppets! And of course, who could forget his very own dedication to this here mag he created a few years ago with his mighty ‘Terrorizer’ song – only Onslaught had ever done a homage to a metal mag before this, if memory serves me correctly. There’s something for everyone, which is something rare in many musician’s repertoires. Devin’s enjoyed and created a rather unique musical path and 25 albums in, it’s awesome to see that this month, there are no signs of him letting up. Read all about what he’s been up to over the past few years and how he’s feeling about life in our cover story. Elsewhere this issue is jam packed with a delectable array of quality bands including plenty of UK bands – Akercocke, The Wounded Kings, Slomatics, Coltsblood, and Iron Witch – and plenty of worldwide ones too. Extreme music, no boundaries! See you next month. Darren Sadler
