The Woodworker Magazine  |  Oct-20
Autumn is nearly here, and what a great time for all things woodworking! In this fantastic issue, we bring you the usual mix of projects and turning, technical content, features, plus various tests on a selection of brand-new kit.
PROJECTS & TURNING
• BAROQUE GUITAR – PART 3: In the final instalment of his unique build, Shaun Newman constructs the back of the instrument, bridge and ‘mustachios’, fits the frets, strings up and tunes, before making a custom carrying case
• TURNED TRINKET BOXES & CIGAR BOX GUITAR: Using an old dismantled satin walnut sideboard, Andrew Hall is commissioned to make two cigar box guitars and two trinket boxes using various upcycled parts
• HALL UNIT: Wishing to fill an empty space in his hallway, Geoff Ryan is pleased to find he has room for a mirror unit complete with a set of drawers
• WINDOW SEAT: Phil Davy creates more room in his cottage by stripping out window seats and replacing boards
• REPLACEMENT WINDOWS: Peter Vivian gives his house a lift by setting about replacing two leaded lights
• ESTHERICK MUSIC STAND – PART 1 : In the first part of this article, Matthew White sets about recreating a music stand by the great Wharton Esherick – with a few added upgrades
• KRENOV-STYLE CABINET: Phil Edwards gets inside the imaginative head of the late great James Krenov to recreate his signature cabinet on stand
• BROWN OAK POT: Les Thorne had reason not to like this tree very much – until it fell down in a gale. He gives himself a handicap by turning it wet
TECHNICAL
In our technical section, Dremel's handy beginners’ guide to sanding will show you the tools of the trade and where to start; and in the next instalment of his 'Woodworker's encyclopaedia', Peter Bishop takes us on through ‘H’ and another letter bites the dust.
