Last issue I commented on the fact that many of our cars get too little use, and
that both the cars and their owners could benefit from more regular exercise. Well,
I don’t claim it has anything to do with my words, but there has been a lot of driving going
on since then! The Stags have had their European Meet, the Pre-1940s Triumph Motor Club have
been most active, all models were out and about during a fantastic STAR90 – and those are just some of the reports we’ve managed to include. The features also have a very active theme, with
my own Herald clocking up 701 miles on Club Triumph’s Historic Counties Run, Rick Cutting’s
Dolomite Sprint racing at Angouleme, Martin Longmore recalling 40 years of using his TR4A,
Diane and Ray Ferris explaining how much pleasure they have had from their little Standard
Pennants over the years... I could go on, but there is a very definite theme of enjoying our cars the way they were meant to be used. So much so, in fact, that we have added an additional eight pages to this issue to fit everything in. Even with this extra space it has still been a real squeeze, but that just emphasises how vibrant the Standard-Triumph scene is and how usable our cars remain to this day. We’ll have more stories next issue to continue this theme, including Gary and Pam McCarroll as they head to the Arctic Circle in their Stag. Where will you go? Simon Goldsworthy, Editor
