TV & Satellite Week  |  13th May 2017
QUEEN OF THE BAFTAS
The Bafta TV Awards are always one of the most glittering nights in the small screen calendar, and this year’s ceremony, hosted by Sue Perkins from London’s Royal Festival Hall, will have an extra touch of regal magic with Netflix’s acclaimed drama, The Crown, looking set to dominate proceedings. The first series of the sumptuous and ambitious drama, which followed the young Queen Elizabeth II as she came to the throne and grew in confidence while facing personal and political dilemmas, has five nominations. The ten part show itself is up for Best Drama Series, while Jared Harris is nominated for Supporting Actor for his role as George VI along with John Lithgow as Winston Churchill, and there’s also a Supporting Actress nod for Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.
