TV & Satellite Week  |  2nd December 2017
THE NEW CROWN
It’s not every day TV&Satellite Week gets an invitation to Buckingham Palace, but for the second series of Netflix’s blockbuster royal drama The Crown, we’ve been asked along to watch a day of filming. Well, we’ve been invited to Elstree Studios, where a convincing replica of the Palace has been built. After watching a scene set in the 1960s, where Claire Foy, as a pregnant Queen Elizabeth II, tells husband Prince Philip, played by Matt Smith, how tired she feels, we get a sneak peek at a recreation of the Palace gates. Now, the second series examines the scandals, crises and changing opinions of the monarchy that the
royals faced from 1956 to 1964. Here, stars Foy, 33, and Smith, 35, tell us what’s in store.
