Lone Dove: Dot Allison
THE last time that Edinburghborn singer Dot Allison made an album in Scotland was in 1992. Back then, she was a 22-yearold biochemistry student at Glasgow University who would spend the day in the laboratory before heading to the studio at night to record with her band One Dove. These sessions would be sent to London where Andrew Weatherall, who’d helped the band get a deal with Boy’s Own, would go about knocking them into shape in the style of Screamadelica.
