It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most wasteful. It takes six mature trees to make one tonne of wrapping paper, and every year a forest the size of Wales is used up for wrapping paper alone. In the UK, we throw away 5 million tonnes of this wrapping paper every year, having used it only once. As the vast majority of it cannot be recycled, all of this waste goes straight to landfill. This environmentally harmful process can be avoided though. As people become ethically conscious, lots of great ideas for sustainable wrapping paper are emerging. Take a look at this list of our favourites.
