A LIFE IN Rock Roll

Vince Eager

In this issue, Vince remembers an impromptu car drive from London to Glasgow to find fish and chips and an encounter over Guernsey with Mr Biggles…

As Joe Brown and I returned from our week at the Metropole Theatre in Glasgow neither of us had any idea I would be heading back there within 24 hours.Unfortunately, the week had not been without incident.

I had been barred from the theatre bar due to a confrontation with a very drunk Scottish fan, plus Joe’s drummer had got drunk at their rented flat, thus enabling Joe to shave off most of said drummer’s hair and dye the remaining tufts bright red and blue.

As tough a character as she was, Joe’s mum, Mrs Brown, endeared herself to all who met her as, unlike with many people we’d met in our somewhat brief showbiz careers, you knew where you stood – and if you didn’t she would soon tell you.
