{LIVING} ROOMS WITH A VIEW

In the market for a new property? Try one of these luxe new London developments, or look further afield to the snow-crested French Alps or beach-fringed Mallorca

BRUTALIST BEAUTY

Ever wandered around London’s brutalist Barbican Estate and imagined yourself as a resident? Then snap up one of the apartments in Redrow’s soon-to-be completed Blake Tower, a luxury new development of 74 art-inspired homes, housed in a former YMCA hostel. Blake Tower is the Barbican’s fourth high-rise tower, and completes the Estate, which boasts a three-dimensional jigsaw of sunken gardens, flowing lakes and public walkways connecting residential towers to the Barbican Centre, with its year-round performing arts programme.

The 17-storey development, named after poet William Blake who once lived in the area, will provide far-reaching views across many of the capital’s landmarks, including the London Eye and The Shard to the south and Wembley Stadium to the north. The building was originally designed in the 1960s by renowned architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon, and will house apartments ranging from 450sq foot to 2,000sq foot, with Barbican and Farringdon stations nearby providing transport routes across the city.

About Winq

The new October/November issue of Winq is stuffed with gay goodness. We’ve got an exclusive interview and cover with disco-pop queen Sophie Ellis-Bextor and a second cover featuring Ricky Martin. Sophie Ellis-Bextor is back and better than ever on new album Familia, while Puerto-Rican heartthrob Ricky Martin reminds us why he’s still the king of Latin pop (and as smouldering as ever). Elsewhere we meet the UK’s only out jockey, chat with actor Mark Gatiss, celebrate 50 years of Coming Out with author Jeffrey Weeks, and get to grips with Anohni’s politically-charged new album. Plus a bumper wedding section and Karl Lagerfeld in our business section. The wait is over - Winq is the luxury lifestyle magazine for gay men.
