TINA CHANTREY HEADS TO LANZAROTE FOR A HUMID HALF IN RUNNING PARADISE

If you’ve never heard of Club La Santa (CLS) in Lanzarote, this may come as a surprise; there’s a resort where you can stay with all the leisure facilities you’d expect from a holiday in the sun, as well as all the running/ exercise/fitness classes/races you could ever dream of, too!

I’ve been to CLS before, so I knew what to expect, although I last went five years ago and spent more time running around after my three girls than really participating in everything on offer. This time I wanted to make the most of my week away and run as much as I could. Every week CLS puts on several races that everyone, regardless of fitness, can participate in. I literally hit the ground running (sorry!). We arrived at CLS on Monday, and 7.45am on Tuesday is the weekly half-marathon race. It was a struggle getting up (we had to get to the airport at 4am the day before), but every day is precious at this dream resort. The sun was just rising as I made my way to the start. With only 12 hours to acclimatise to the 30°C heat, I was expecting the race to be tough.
