And yes, of course these physical shops are places of wonder; treasure troves full of rich pickings for bibliophiles. But what about the best bookshops online? Because let’s face it – if there is something you really want to find, the internet is going to help you more than a determined rootle through physical book stacks.
We’re not talking giant e-tailers here, although if you’re looking for a cheap copy of a book and can bear trawling through the behemoth’s massive marketing platform for itself, Amazon is everyone’s first port of call – this was its first function and is arguably still its best one. Even better, WM has tracked down rare titles through Amazon subsidiary Abebooks’ Create A Want feature, where you can be alerted when a particular title comes into stock and is entered by a seller on the database.
