Nottingham Writers’ Club is inviting entries for its National Short Story Competition 2017.
To celebrate the club’s ninetieth anniversary, the competition is for stories up to 2,000 words on the theme of ‘food and drink’. Because the competition aims to encourage new writing talent, writers who have earned £300 or more from short story writing up to and including 2016 are politely asked not to enter.
There are prizes of £200, £100 and £50, and five runners-up prizes. Because the competition is for new and less experienced writers, each entrant will receive a few lines of feedback on their story. The top three stories will be published on the NWC website.
