50-Word Story is a Canadian zine publishing fifty-word flash fiction. There are two new stories every day, a story of the week on Saturdays and the story chosen as the best of the month receives a small payment. Editor Tim Sevenhuysen wants fiction in exactly a fifty-word story, with ‘a beginning and an end, a plot and character development (even if they are only implied), and a theme, meaning, or purpose of some sort.’
Submissions are open each month from the 1st to the 15th. Paste your story into the body of an email. If the story relates to a specific date or holiday, please put that in the email subject line. Response time is ‘a few weeks’. The story of the month receives Can$10.
