A sonnet for Shakespeare

To honour the 400-year anniversary of Shakespeare’s death this year, Writers & Artists is running a sonnet competition in association with Arden Shakespeare and the Royal Society of Literature.

The competition, which will be judged by Ruth Padel, is for a sonnet written in response to one of Shakespeare’s. The winner will receive a leather-bound edition of Shakespeare’s Complete Works worth £99.99 and a year’s free membership of the Royal Society of Literature. Second and third-placed winners will get a copy of On Shakespeare’s Sonnets: A Poets’ Celebration. The first, second and third-placed winners will have their sonnets published on Writers & Artists’ website with feedback from Ruth Padel, and the winning sonnet will be published in the Royal Society of Literature Review.
