The Fish Prize for Short Stories is open for the 2016 competition.
The winning writer will receive €3,000, €1,000 of which is for travel expenses to the launch of the competition anthology. The winner will also receive a week-long fiction writing course with Claire Keegan during the West Cork Literary Festival. The second prize is a week at the Anam Cara Writers’ Retreat in West Cork, and €300 travel expenses. The third prize is €300.
The competition is for original, unpublished short stories in any genre up to 5,000 words. All stories entered in the competition must be available for publication in the anthology. No entry form is needed, and writers may enter as many times as they wish. Writers may enter online or by post. Format entries on single sides of A4 in a clear, readable font. The writer’s name must not appear on the manuscript. Postal entrants should include a separate front sheet with name and contact details.
