Following the huge international ratings and critical success of the BBC’s recent serialisation of John Le Carré’s The Night Manager, the corporation is currently preparing to adapt the author’s The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. This was the author’s third novel, previously made into a hit 1965 film starring Richard Burton. This time round Game of Thrones actor Aidan Gillen is the favourite to play veteran spy Alex Leamas. The script is being written by Simon Beaufoy, who won an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire. The Night Manager director Susanne Bier is reportedly due to direct both The Spy Who Came In From The Cold and a second series of The Night Manager.
