known…
‘Romance writers can sometimes be dismissed as not being “proper writers”. Yes, really. Shocking, isn’t it? Even though I’m writing in the world’s biggest-selling genre, not everyone reacts positively when I tell them what I do. So I wish I’d known I’d need to have a supply of witty ripostes to: “When are you going to write a proper book?” and: “Oh, is it like that Fifty Shades?” and: “Why don’t you write something literary?” I wish I’d learned earlier to be more confident and to stand up for my chosen genre. I’m proud to be a romance writer!
‘I also wish I’d known that writing is about forcing your backside down in front of the computer. That it was going to be very hard work (and it wasn’t going to make my fortune).
