Circling Rivers is an American independent publisher of literary fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. The team also publishes a special imprint, gertrude m books, which accepts submissions by invitation only.
Circling Rivers calls itself ‘a small, fledgling press’, with modest advances and no dedicated sales force yet, so the editors only accept books they believe they can sell, and expect the author to work at ‘getting the word out’ about his or her book. It needs literary fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. It is happy to receive ‘novella-length fiction, longform non-fiction, short story and poetry collections.’ Literary works are the main focus but the team will also look at ‘love stories and speculative fiction’.
