With our busy, full-on lives, sometimes it seems we barely have time to draw breath, never mind think about how our lifestyles affect other members of the family — and that includes our pets.

Our lead feature this month reflects on how the stresses and strains of modern life can filter down to our cats and have an impact on their health and behaviour. But, all is not lost — there are ways in which we can minimise this knock-on effect; all it takes is a little thought and planning! Find out more in the January issue of Your Cat.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been asking Your Cat readers to tell us which pedigree breeds they’d most like to see featured in the magazine. Well, the votes have been cast and counted, and we’ve now come up with your top 10. You’ll find the first of these — the Burmese — in this issue, and then we’ll be counting down to your number one over the coming months — stay tuned.

Finally, do you ever get the feeling that your cat can sense things that we humans are oblivious to? I certainly remember feeling that about the cat I had as a child, who seemed to be constantly looking over my shoulder, at someone or something I couldn’t see!
