Health & Wellbeing  |  Sep-20
As the UK starts to emerge from lockdown
into the ‘new normal’ and the world
begins to heal, we must now begin to
heal ourselves and learn how to support
each other moving forward.
There has been a lot of change to deal with,
and it can be hard to know how to help a loved
one navigate difficult life events, such as grief or
redundancy. If you’re in that position, turn to page 26
where our expert shows us how to do it the right way.
Change can occur in friendships too – as we go through life’s milestones,
keeping relationships the same isn’t always possible. Find out on page 15
how to keep a friendship going, and when to know it’s time to say goodbye.
If you’ve been struggling with your own mental health lately, you may
have considered going to therapy. It can be a bit of a taboo subject, as our
inspirational cover star Andrea McLean discovered on page nine, but there’s
no doubt about its healing effects. Not sure if it’s right for you? We answer all
of your burning questions about seeking professional help on page 108.
Remember to look after your own health too – rest is the best form of
healing for your body, but world events have of course left many of us feeling
anxious and unable to switch off. Take our
quiz on page 36 to find out what’s keeping
you awake (the answer may surprise
you), and then head to page 34 to find
10 ways to get a better night’s sleep
tonight. Still not feeling relaxed?
Our columnist Charlotte Hawkins
tells us about the calming effects
of music meditation on page 101.
Whatever you’re facing right
now, we hope this issue of H&W
leaves you feeling uplifted.
