We answer your DIY and maintenance questions with a little help from the experts

Q I hate grouting – are there any alternatives to tiles in my bathroom? Imogen, Sunderland

A Gemma Stockberger, from Versital, offers this suggestion… If you dislike the chore of cleaning grout in the bathroom, there are other easy and attractive options available instead of tiles. You could consider wall panels, for example, to create a smooth, sleek look in the room and eliminate the need to grout. They are easy to maintain too – simply wipe with a damp cloth to keep them clean and looking as good as new. As the panels can be fitted together without the need for big joins, dirt cannot become trapped in any gaps. This helps to keep the bathroom more hygienic and means there is no need for any time-consuming scrubbing jobs to remove grime.

Look out for panels, such as Versital’s, that are completely bespoke, and so are designed to fit any space requirement – no matter the size or shape of your bathroom. This also removes the need to grout in any awkward spaces. Versital’s panels also come in a huge range of colour and finish options to suit your bathroom décor and can provide a matching solution for shower panels, shower trays and vanity units, offering complete design flexibility for your bathroom.

About Your Home Magazine

I don’t know about you, but I always feel like we’ve turned a corner in April. The clocks have gone forward, so we’ve got longer, lighter days; the weather is getting warmer, so we can fling open the windows and let the fresh air in and the garden is bursting with colourful flowers beckoning us outside. And not forgetting, it’s Easter this month, which means we get a lovely long bank holiday weekend to look forward to (which is perfect for getting stuck into a spot of decorating)! So with all this on the horizon we’ve filled this issue with lots of exciting spring features. It’s time to ditch those furry throws and heavy winter curtains and lighten up your home’s look for the months ahead. On page 36 we take a look at the latest fabric trends and show how you can use them to give your home the ‘wow’ factor. While on page 42 we discover lots of great new products to take away your wash day blues. If you haven’t already noticed, green is the big colour trend for this year, so on page 20 we show how to give your home a gorgeous leafy green makeover with purse-friendly accessories. To celebrate Easter our Craft Editor, Sophie, has designed some adorable projects to brighten up your home – you’re going to love the cute little lambs (p.60)! And make sure you check out our quick and easy recipes on page 100, perfect for making your Easter family gettogether really special. Have a great month and a very happy Easter!
