CONSERVATORY MAKEOVER
Being from the other side of the world, New Zealander Sarah Poysti, 38, always has lots of family and friends who love to visit her throughout the year. ‘My husband, Petri, and I are both from large families and they all regularly stay over. It’s always been a bit of a squash in the house, so we decided to think about different solutions,’ she explains. When Sarah first discussed having a garden room built with Petri, 36, a chef, they weren’t exactly sure what they wanted. ‘There are so many off-theshelf sheds and studios you can buy but we decided to get one customised for our needs,’ she says. Sarah was told about OMDeCo, specialist in bespoke garden studios, and after a few meetings with the designer, Sarah and Petri started to get excited about their new garden room. ‘We opted for an angled design with bi-folding glass doors to make the most of the view and sunlight.’ Sarah started thinking how she would decorate the room and wanted to keep it quite neutral with a New England vibe. ‘Our two daughters, Miia, seven, and Emilia, four, had other ideas though and begged us to paint it pink, but I put my foot down and explained this would be a calming retreat for the entire family, using a soft grey and white palette,’ Sarah smiles.
With the doors folded back, the space feels part of the garden and provides the perfect spot for a relaxing coffee break
