PERFECT PATIO PICK-ME-UPS

Brighten up your outside space, however small, with these creative ideas

Green Wall Palle

There are plenty of DIY wall planters on the market but this recycled pallet is an instant winner for price, ease, and rustic style. When packed with pretty edibles it will also keep you going in fresh leaves, herbs, and veg all summer long. Most crops like a warm, bright spot so choose a sunny wall for your pallet. Before planting secure it to the wall with vine eyes and wire, to stop it toppling over after watering and when it gets heavy with produce. Plant the pallet through the slats, treating each row as a separate layer. To help stop potting compost falling through the layers, line each layer with a length of plastic.

PLANTS

Edible flowers: nasturtium, pansy and pot marigold.

Herbs: lemon verbena, rosemary and thyme. Vegetables: bush tomato, courgette, mangetout, rocket, and salad leaves.
