THE OPENING two rounds of the 2016 club championship for gents was contested last weekend over the scorching Machrihanish sand dunes.
Last year’s runner-up Steven Gilmour put together two excellent rounds to take a strong three-shot early lead, with George McMillan nearest to him.
The handicap competition, the Jim Scally, was played over the first two rounds and was a keenly contested affair with Stewart MacMillan emerging victorious with two excellent net scores of 66 and 69 for a 135 total.
