BONFIRES burnt and fireworks flashed across Kintyre during the annual gunpowder plot commemoration.
Three days of crisp dry weather made sure fires crackled. On three consecutive nights, with Carradale last Friday, Campbeltown on Saturday and Sunday’s Southend finale, crowds of revellers were tempted out by the ideal conditions to watch rockets blast into the heavens and to sample traditional fare.
Carradale’s celebration, including a barbecue at the cricket pavilion, had the added bonus of raising in excess of £500 for the appeal to build a new playground at Well Park.
