AS MOTORISTS drove to and from Kintyre for Christmas, a teenager’s careless A83 overtaking manoeuvre held them up for nearly three hours.
At Campbeltown sheriff court, last Thursday, Kirill Matveev, 19, a Lochgilphead graphics worker from Tayvallich, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of careless driving. He was given five penalty points and ordered to pay a £300 fine. Earlier the court heard that Matveev of Tayvullin Cottage, had been driving south, enroute for Islay, on December 23 last year, when he came up behind a slow moving lorry near West Loch Hotel, Tarbert.
He started to overtake but another car, coming down the hill in the opposite direction, collided with his vehicle. Both cars were going slowly and there were no injuries.
