Hospital beds cut due to staff shortages

NURSING concerns about safe staffing levels has led to bed numbers at Campbeltown hospital being cut.

There are currently supposed to be 22 beds at the hospital but the number has been cut by four to 18.

Councillor Donald Kelly has slammed the cuts saying that as the town grows, with more than 100 jobs expected to be created at CS Wind alone, now is not the time to reduce hospital beds.

Mr Kelly said: ‘As someone who has fought tooth and nail to retain hospital wards and beds I find the latest chain of events very concerning.
