THICK fog was the last thing nine crewmen saw before their anti-submarine patrol aircraft slammed into a Mull of Kintyre hillside.

Neptune C Charlie, a Lockheed P2V-5, was returning from an exercise off Derry, Northern Ireland, to its base at Topcliffe, North Yorkshire, on October 10 1956, when it hit Beinn na Lice, killing everyone on board.
