Burning ambition to serve in fire service

A GROUP of new recruits has stepped up to the first rung of the ladder at Campbeltown Fire Station.

The five firefighters – Rachel MacPhail, Josh Parr, Ronan Currie, Tom Lee and Craig Paterson – joined the existing crew last month following a two-week residential basic training course held in Oban Community Fire Station.

The recruits will under go further training in Kintyre until June. They will return to Oban for a further two-week residential course including breathing apparatus and hot fire training.
