Campbeltown police officers motored to Machrihanish last Sunday and met two of the men behind the success of the Mach 1 rally. Earlier, deputy stage commander Stewart Paton had warned motor race competitors to observe speed limits on the way out of Kintyre, up the A83, as the police ‘may well be out with speed cameras’.
