ONE OF Campbeltown’s favourite charity events had to be cancelled on Saturday; the town’s fire station open day could not go ahead much to the disappointment of the fire crews and their loyal supporters.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stopped all community events after the UK terror alert was raised to critical level, following recent incidents in London. Watch manager Ronnie Souden took to Facebook to say how disappointed all the station personnel were at the decision but fully understood why it had to be made.
And he said: ‘We would like to thank all who have supported us with donations of baking and raffle prizes; the raffle will be drawn at a later date.’
