Replacement electricity cable discussed


CONSULTATION events were held to explore the options for Gigha’s new electricity supply.

Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (SHEPD) held the pre-application events to shed light on the replacement of the submarine electricity cable that currently serves the island. The existing cable, which runs just over 3.5km between cable landfalls near Rhunahaorine Point and Achamhinish, is approaching the end of its operational life.
