CAMPBELTOWN’S churches joined forces to raise funds for flood-hit Peru. The Scottish Bible Society (SBS), supported by all of the town’s churches, held a coffee morning last Saturday in the Lorne and Lowland Church Hall, with a baking stall and table top sale.
The £530.87 raised at the event will support the Peruvian Bible Society’s Bread of Life programme, which gives children a good quality, filling meal before or after school, sometimes their only meal of the day.
According to SBS, two out of three children in Peru live in poverty, with 25 per cent of all children suffering from malnutrition.
