Classic Car Buyer  |  No.230 Jack Brabham Remembered
Around two years ago, a
rather controversial decision
was made concerning
classic cars; namely that pre-
1960 registered classics would no
longer need to be MoT’d. Rather
than having to submit them for
professional testing once a year,
it would be entirely the owner of
each of these cars’ responsibility to
ensure that these vehicles were kept
roadworthy. At the time many people
predicted rocketing insurance
premiums, people dragging
terminally rotten wrecks from fields
and putting them straight into use,
and (worse of all) serious accidents
involving unroadworthy pre-1960
vehicles and consequent adverse
publicity for our hobby.
