CLUBS RACE TO AVOID EU DATA FINES
Clubs have just three weeks to make sure that they are prepared for new
European legislation affecting how they protect your personal details, and they could face hefty fines if they aren’t. The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) has stepped in to help clubs untangle the red tape surrounding the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force on 25 May and affects how organisations handle people’s personal data. Fines for not complying can be up to €20m (£17.5m) or four per cent of annual turnover. This includes classic car clubs, which are now working to make sure that they are able to properly comply with the new EU-led legislation.
