Janelle’s Kiss to Prince

It’s no coincidence that Janelle Monáe’s comeback single, Make Me Feel sounds so much like Prince. The actress and singer’s first single from new album, Dirty Computer, bares all of the icon’s funky hallmarks, as does the accompanying video. Monáe, who previously recorded with Prince, revealed: “Prince was actually working on the album with me before he passed on to another frequency, and helped me come up with sounds. I really miss him and it’s hard for me to talk about him. But I do miss him, and his spirit will never leave me.” Talking to The Guardian, Monáe said that for her, his death was: “a stab in the stomach.” In other purple news, a songwriting credit on Prince‘s first solo single, Soft And Wet, has been sold via eBay. Co-writer Chris Moon put up his stake in the song up for sale, offering a buy-it-now price of $490,000.
