How to define this sensual extravaganza, this Björk Cornucopia tour? Is it a fantastical art installation, or abstract conceptual theatre, or a digital recitation of Romantic poetry? Is it, as Björk herself posited to the New York Times, a ‘sci-fipop concert’?
What it most certainly isn’t is a routine gig. Cornucopia, a kinetic and vivid fever dream weaved around Björk’s 2017 Utopia album, is a vast and prodigious production, a riot of the imagination. Lucrecia Martel, its director, is a celebrated Argentinean filmmaker who has lent the staging a widescreen cinematic lustre.
