There are concert films that are just that: films of concerts. Then there are those that burrow deeper, revealing something of the essence of their subjects, maybe even more. M is one of the latter. Captured during Depeche Mode’s three sold-out concerts on the Memento Mori tour at the Foro Sol Stadium by director Fernando Frias, with Mexico City’s 2023 Day Of The Dead celebrations serving as a backdrop, it doesn’t flinch from showing Dave Gahan and Martin Gore as they are now – craggy-faced men in their sixties. Gahan in a waistcoat, grey hair slicked back, looks every inch the English vampire abroad.
