Prince’s unfinished memoir will be released later this year. The late star had only managed to complete 50 pages of The Beautiful Ones prior to his death in April 2016. However, publishing agent Esther Newberg is confident that Prince’s collaborator Dan Piepenbring will be able to complete the largely hand-written tome in time for Christmas using information already gleaned from the star.
In other news, the Prince estate has released the original 1984 version of Nothing Compares 2 U. Recorded six years before Sinéad O’Connor’s cover, Prince’s long-time engineer Susan Rogers revealed an unusual inspiration behind the romantic classic. She told The Guardian: “His young housekeeper, Sandy Scipioni, had to leave suddenly to be with her family because her father died of a heart attack. Sandy ran Prince’s life. He kept asking: ‘When’s Sandy coming back?’ The song came out like a sneeze.”
