TMT technology
Tolerance Modelling Technology (TMT) is a recurring feature in a number of Brainworx plugins and emulates analogue circuitry by simulating variances in electronic components. EQ 200 includes 20 different channels, each with their own character and you can choose them manually or use the channel randomiser. For stereo plugin instances you can choose either digital or analogue modes. Digital assigns the same TMT channel to EQ 200’s left and right channels, while analogue mode selects adjacent TMT channels. Across multiple plug instances you can assign the same or different TMT channels if you wish. Understandably, TMT has the most impact if the left and right channels of a stereo instance are different (hence the analogue mode) and if you want to emulate hardware this is the way to go. But for critical mastering applications it makes more sense to use the same TMT channel for both left and right.
AMEK EQ 200 (AU, AAX, VST, VST3) is the latest analogue-style EQ from Brainworx, and takes its inspiration from the classic GML 8200. The design is unapologetically analogue in layout (there’s no curve display, band nodes or frequency analysis to pore over) and this combined with its gorgeous photo-realistic interface delivers a truly old-skool user experience. That said, it’s still a Brainworx plugin, and is thus packed with some excellent features including their Tolerance Modelling Technology (TMT) system (see box out).
