> Syntronik 2 (AU, VST3, AAX, Standalone) is the new version of IK Multimedia’s mammoth synth-based multi-part instrument. With a potential 5500 presets across 33 classic synths to choose from, powered by up to 200GB of sound content, it’s an awesome package that combines recognisable synth interfaces with effects and a 4-part multi option.
Synths can be purchased individually, but there are also three tiered bundles that include differing levels of content. There’s also a free starter version (Syntronik 2 CS) that includes 100 presets.
This month we’re very excited to bring you the J-60 instrument from the bundle, complete with its full library of 125 presets. Just to be clear, this is the exact same pack, presets and library that would normally set you back €50.
So, you have almost 2GB of quality content for free. J-60 is IK Multimedia’s version of Roland’s early 80s polyphonic synth, the Juno-60.
This analogue classic, with its distinctive mini sliders was not only supremely easy to program, but the use of digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs) rather than voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) meant its tuning was reliable. It also featured a fat-sounding chorus effect and patch memories, although not MIDI, which was included in the Juno-106 that followed.
In this tutorial we’ll show you how to claim, download and install your free software. We’ll then run through the many features of Syntronik 2 CS, which includes much deeper editing than version 1. Along the way we’ll look at the J-60 and see what noises we can make with this classic Roland-inspired synth.

1 >To get started, download and install IK Multimedia’s Product Manager application from here www.ikmultimedia. com/products/productmanager . Once installed, if you don’t have one already, you’ll need to create an IK Multimedia account, which you can do from the IK Product Manager or from here www.ikmultimedia.com/userarea.
