Arvo Pärt is a classical composer, who was born and raised in Estonia. He has the accolade of being one of the most performed living composers in the world today, only placed in second position by film composer John Williams. While he is cited as a considerably influential figure in contemporary music, his compositions often draw inspiration from Gregorian chant, among other musical sources. You can hear the influence very clearly in some of his work, such as one of his most performed works, Fratres.
