One of the biggest issues with using patches of this kind is related to the vast amounts of harmonic content contained within. By nature, these more ‘brassy’ patches are generated from a sawtooth waveform, which is the richest of the waves normally associated with subtractive synthesis. The move from the vintage style to the more contemporary Euro style exacerbates the problem further, with even greater numbers of saws and harmonic content. While it is feasible that a degree of filtering could be used within the synth, EQ is a better solution, as it will allow the heightening of the frequencies you want to exaggerate, and the ability to decrease those you don’t. It might sound obvious, but the lower frequencies are likely to be the most troublesome in a mix, so an easy solution is simply not to use the left hand quite so much, while playing chords. If you do want the stability of those lower notes, you’ll be amazed how much you can EQ out, while it will still sound like a bass note. This is because even lower notes contain higher frequencies and harmonics, so they will ring out and sit nicely in a mix. Compression will always help!
