The music production industry tends to go a little quiet over the summer, as our developer friends take extended vacations. But that’s not to say nothing is happening in the world of music making (if anything, the hot weather has driven us back to our laptops and darkened studios!), so here’s a roundup of what is hot, aside from the temperature…
First we have Minimal Audio’s new Morph EQ. This fancy looking EQ lets you draw in and morph between EQ shapes and has seven filter types with stereo, singlechannel, and mid-side filter routing and over 100 presets. Minimal Audio are well known for their high value plugins and this is no exception, costing just $49.
Next up, Texturize is “a new reactive texture” plugin for Mac and PC from SoundGhost that uses noises – some 200 different types – as sources. It takes everything from retro recording devices, through found sound like rainfall, to electromagnetic drones, and allows you to apply filtering, envelopes and more. You can also import your own samples. It’s just £39.
Proclethya by Dymai Sound is a new analogue synth announced by WA Production. With three primary features called Drift, Noise and Distortion, it attempts what other analogue softsynths might not do by covering the grittier side of the format for $99 (although you might get it on sale).
