Project House Part 7

Home at Last

BY MARGIE MONIN
CURB APPEAL X2. While the Project House can be viewed from two different street corners in the neighborhood, it needed curb appeal from every angle. An earthy green paint for the siding, combined with Cherokee Brick and bleached cedar vertical siding, give the facade a distinct personality.

Over the past year, we’ve been chronicling the room-by-room progress of our Project House 2020, and we are amazed at how it’s come together. This year’s Project House was a collaboration between Cottages & Bungalows, American Farmhouse Style, JJ and Lindsey Morris, owners of homebuilder Scissortail Homes and Rachel Shingleton, interior designer and owner of Pencil Shavings Studio. The Project House fused cozy cottage style and farmhouse livability, and was built according-to-plan and on-schedule, despite the pandemic!

“It’s so fun to watch this process,” says Victoria Van Vlear, American Farmhouse Style Brand Leader. “As a magazine editor, I usually just see pictures of the finished homes we feature. But getting to capture the whole process gives me so much more appreciation for the amount of work and efiort that goes into building a home from scratch.”
