Is there anything better than taking a bite of a warm apple or berry pie on a cold winter day, or any day for that matter? Not only do pies and other baked treats give your home a delicious aroma, but they also symbolize a celebration of life, and the comfort and joy of time spent with family and friends. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned baker, it can be challenging to flip through scores of cookbook pages or scroll through countless recipes online to find the perfect treat. To remedy this, blogger, mom and entrepreneur Hope Comerford decided to collect 127 of the best recipes for a variety of delectable goodies in her book Welcome Home: Pies, Crisps, and Crumbles.
Hope’s journey exploring recipes started when she went back to school to get her master’s degree and had to balance home life with studying. This resulted in her starting a blog in 2010, A Busy Mom’s Slow Cooker Adventures, where she was able to explore cooking in a new way and get creative. Diagnosed later with a severe gluten intolerance, she was further spurred on to collect and create recipes that would be useful for a variety of people in her New York Times best-selling “Fix-It and Forget-It” series.
