NATURAL LIGHT. With the glorious springtime sunshine streaming in through the windows, this area is a special sunny space for Kim’s desk. “We wanted this room to feel welcoming, a place for passersby to sit and have conversation for a few moments or a few hours,” Donna says. It is feminine in nature and a bit more sophisticated than the other rooms.

NATIVE ARCHITECTURE. The original staircase was kept as an homage to the island’s heritage. “It is an architectural element that is synonymous with historical Nantucket. It adds to the charm of the home and was an element [with] great historical significance,” Donna says.
FAMILY FEEL. The homeowners envisioned a family room where they could gather and feel close while being comfortable. “This feeling is exactly what this room exudes,” Donna says. “We wanted this room to feel the most casual, as it would be a room well lived in.” A Serena and Lily Jamison sofa in Indigo chenille makes a statement, while the rest of the interior elements offset its density. The room is spacious, yet its cozy styling encourages the family to linger.
