Bringing together functionality and aesthetics is crucial in any kitchen design. While having an open floor plan may be the current trend, designer Annie Elliott decided to keep the dividing wall that separates the kitchen and the adjoining family room. “If we eliminated it, we would lose the beverage center and a run of cabinets in the kitchen,” she says. The abundance of cabinets provides plenty of storage for the family, and little windows at the top allow opportunity for the homeowners to display their collectibles. The large island is another showcase of functionality and style. “It is a whopping 10 feet long, which provides ample space to prepare food and serve meals simultaneously,” Annie says.
