BRAATHENS AVIATION has revealed it no longer wishes to be the launch operator of the Bombardier CSeries airliner. The Swedish-based group’s domestic unit, Malmö Aviation, currently has firm orders for five CS100s and five CS300s. In Braathens’ 2014 interim financial report it said that “increased uncertainty” about the CSeries programme was the main reason for its decision. “An engine-related incident on one of the CSeries test aircraft was reported by Bombardier in late May,” the statement reads. “It has subsequently emerged that this may cause another delay to the CSeries’ introduction. We have informed Bombardier that we will not assume the role of formal launch operator of the type. Due to increased uncertainty we are discussing other possible changes to our delivery schedule with Bombardier.”
